The Best Summerside Restaurants

Our Favourite Summerside Restaurants

There are plenty of things to see and do in Summerside – but a trip cannot be considered ‘complete’ without some delicious local eats. You’ll have to be sure to check out Summerside restaurants and what they have to offer. PEI is known for it’s world class cuisine. Due in part to the high quality produce and being home to one of the top culinary schools in the world.  You can easily access plenty of restaurants and eateries just a short distance from the Anchor motel and suites – offering up some amazing local and international flavors.

One of the most common Questions my staff and I get is “What’s good to eat around here?”. So we’d like to take a moment and highlight some of our favourite local places to eat, in no particular order.

We’re sure that you’ll find something on this list to start off your appetizing adventures on PEI.

The Best Food In Summerside

Arigato Sushi

World Class Bento

Arigato Sushi is an award winning restaurant specializing in Japanese food with a few other Asian dishes on offer. The menu has an extensive variety of delicacies from Japanese to Thai cuisines, appetizers and a variety of salads. It’s a very popular spot for those craving a wide variety of sushi, or a classic bento box.

Personally, we’re BIG fans of their bento boxes – Deliciously prepared sushi, with a variety of options to satisfy any palette.

Samuel’s Coffee House

Fresh coffee & soup made daily

This is the best place for the early birds who love coffee to start their day. It opens at 7am to get you going with the best coffee of the day with delicious snacks and breakfasts available. The menu has a variety of sandwiches, coffees and bakery items, as well as amazing soups offered which are prepared daily with fresh ingredients, in house at Samuel’s Coffee House. Try their hummus and veggie soup, or be sure to ask for the soup of the day. It is prepared daily with various fresh ingredients, depending on availability.

One of our must-try Summerside restaurants for the travelling coffee aficionado.

High on the Hog Barbeque

A food truck for foodies

If you are craving meat, then High on the Hog barbeque is the best option to go (weather permitting of course). There is a wide variety of delicious grilled food. Menu has amazing platters, salads, hamburgers and steaks. Their claim to fame has got to be their pulled pork sandwich. They are served up with cheese, pickles, and a generous portion of shredded porky goodness. They have a few different types of sauce available to sweeten up your sandwich.

Apart from the drool inducing smell of BBQ meat in the area, you’ll know you’re in the right spot. You’ll see the big red food bus with classiest pig you’ll ever see on the side.

Hoss’s Fish ‘n’ Chips

Classic grub from a Classic Islander.

There is a traditional menu offered by Hoss’s Fish and Chips You’d expect to find at a Mom and Pop like this. What is on offer though – is great. The menu has a variety of hamburgers, Fish burgers, and more to make sure there’s something for everyone. The go to dish though, has got to be it’s namesake of fish ‘n’ chips.

Hoss will gladly fry up however many pieces you want. Then it’s served up with fries or onion rings, coleslaw or tartar sauce.

A great local spot to grab a classic meal – be sure to check out Hoss’s fish and chips.

511 West

An Upmarket Eatery Hidden Away

Five Eleven West is a well-established seasonal American bistro with a modern and relaxed setting, that’s tucked away inside of the Credit Union Place. The menu is not limited to simply American or Canadian food – it contains delicacies from Asia as well. One of the better spots on the list if vegetarian food options and gluten free alternatives are important. For us – the best thing on the menu is the Grilled Haddock with Dill Sauce. We’d consider it a “Must-Try”. Highly recommended you give it a shot should you find yourself at the credit union place.

Our Favourite Summerside Restaurants

While all the specialties of Summerside restaurants are worth trying – these are our own personal favourites (However ALL bets are off should you happen to come during PEI’s annual ‘Burger Love’ competition). We weren’t paid to promote these spots – nor did we even contact them. These are just our honest-to-goodness favourite spots that we think you’ll appreciate too.

They all offer up unique recipes, with high quality food to really show you how we like to do things in Prince Edward Island.
